Google’s Nexus 4 vs. Apple’s iPhone 5

Finally, a worthy Nexus smartphone to shake up the smartphone industry. Google is offering the latest Nexus 4 this November  with all the bells and whistles (above and beyond the iPhone 5) and a few extra perks. You get a 1.5 GHZ Quad-Core processor (the iPhone 5 has a 1.2GHZ Dual-Core), a 4.7-inch screen, an 8MP camera, a battery that holds 50% more juice than the iPhone counterpart, NFC capabilities and wireless charging.

While the specs are similar to the LG Optimus G (after all, the Nexus 4 was made by LG), the kicker is the no-contract, unlocked selling price: $299. That’s right, you can get a device that’s arguably better than an iPhone 5 for half the price! In a world when practically every high-end smartphone retails for $599+, this price is a real shocker. Nexus devices aren’t that popular among mainstreamers and the fact that  it’s only available via Google (and not retail stores or telecom outlets) will definitely skew sales towards a techie audience.

Nexus 4′s cousin, LG Optimus G

At the end of the day, I’m really happy about what Google and LG created and I’m hoping that Santa brings me one this Christmas!
